Ye Duniya Mere Duniya Naheehe…! -pts

What happened to my students!
My duty, as usual, was on the main stage of Kalolsavam 2012. It took time and strain to start with the HSS Drama on the stage. I patiently waited to watch and enjoy the plays to be presented by my students with great curiosity.
First of the only two plays, “Jalakam”, was quite amazing just because the efforts the students took within the short, inconvenient time, in the most adverse circumstances in our school. I can only appreciate their earnest attempt.
But script-wise, I didn’t like their selection. The play is not suitable in the school stage and is full of abusive expressions in action and words. Such cheap expressions with sexual undertones and such display of violence are okay on cinema/TV screen but ugly on the Kalolsavam stage.
And, in the end of the play, what the viewer got? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. The theme is highly subtle and vague. It has no much social relevance. It’s neither contemporary nor political, and nothing didactic in it. No moral; no message at all. I may be wrong, sometimes; I don’t know what will be my reaction after I read the original script. But these are my first impressions after watching the play presented by those students.
The immature over-actions of the main characters, their ridiculous gestures and mannerism, and the faulty direction are pardonable indeed as they are all young students. But the fatal mistake is the wrong casting, (a girl courageously but unwantedly took the role of a main male character!), spoiled the crux of the entire play, that made the plots ridiculously confusing. The audience reacted negatively, shouted and giggled at the abusive romantic movements and the unparliamentarily verbal retorts and unnecessary violent movements between a girl and a boy.
Everything is okay because, after all, mistakes are all from students who are not properly guided, their rehearsals are not supervised and the script was not scrutinized. It was our mistake; at least I can admit it. Due to an untimely improvement exam we were on exam duty at different centers.
While the play was on, I just could not digest certain harsh words, abusive expressions, dialogue with vulgar undertones, and the violent physical actions of a male against a female. It should have been avoided. Personally, I cannot stand and justify atrocities and violence on woman, both verbal and physical, especially when they are my students or close ones, even if it is in the name of art or drama. I just cannot compromise with all those sequence.
In fact, there were moments when I was provoked to order pulling the curtain down. Instead, I shared my immediate response with one of my colleagues on the stage. The private talk might have been leaked some how. After the result was declared, the desperate director-student who found the script great, reacted violently at me, giving vent to his emotions in the most irreverent manner, but, at the wrong person!
He conveniently pardoned those three judges of drama and gave them the sole right to criticize their performance in public or private! And me have no right, moral ground, as he says, even to pass a rash comment on the said presentation. He caught me (I‘m their leaping boy!) responsible for not getting the first place for his play.
I gave a clarification that I did not make my remarks (on the abusive expressions in the play) in public or in the manner that influence the teachers who were sitting away down the Judgment point. It was quite a private, silent communication with another teacher on stage-duty and I have the right and freedom to do so. I can express my reaction as a spectator and as their teacher.
I still hold the view that the play should have been censored. Certain actions and verbal exchanges could have been avoided. Above all, with respect to the school tradition, much of the physical contacts between girls and boys during the rehearsals and staging, even if it is in the name of art, should NOT have been allowed. I’m categorical about that.

Foot-line:

·      In the staff-room we often exchange the drastic change that has been observed among the post DPEP students that there is negativity in their attitude and approach towards teachers and to the all system of education.
·        A loss of faith; lack of respect and reverence seen everywhere.
·       There is confidence and overconfidence but no trust at all.
·     The youtube generation is helpless to distinguish between fake and fair; excellence and substandard; merit and defect.
·     It has been as if we are told to applaud and appreciate all nonsense and adore every ridiculous things at class rooms, on stages and on the screen!
·       They lack humility and they think impudence and audacity is smartness!

Ye Duniya  Mere Duniya Naheehe…!
No respect. No reverence.
I’m losing the ground.
“Things are falling apart and
The centre cannot hold…
The falcon cannot listen to the falconer”.

(end)

Welcome to Manjeri !

What the Wind said ...

Text Box: rite-upWelcome to Manjeri !

“Have I reached Manjeri”,

a fellow passenger asked time and again.

Obviously he was on his virgin journey to the heart land of Ernad.

“Don’t worry friend, it will be announced soon!”

Somebody consoled him.

“A whiff in the wind is to greet you, “Welcome to Manjeri”.

Just wait and enjoy!!”

No sooner the visitor got the import of what I said than he got the unpleasant odour right from

Vazhaparappadi where Manjeri begins.

The bus kept moving. The sickening whiff fondled past every nose.

“Okay… this is Manjeri . Manjeri Manjeri”,

the Cleaner started twittering in a nasalized tone.

Our guest passenger found suffocating under the unexpected repulsive attack, put his handkerchief fast over

the nose and mouth, stumbled down at Kacherippadi--the gateway to the city. He got the true feel of Manjeri ;

inhaled the breath and soul of Manjeri to the core!

I was teaching functional English, Unit 2: how to express your Likes and Dislikes, in a plus-one class.

Most of them were, like the passenger, new-comers in Manjeri, freshies at a school in the heart (in fact, belly!)

of the city.

Asked about the thing hated most in Manjeri, they said:

the stomach-churning stink enter your nostrils when you enter the city .

The disgusting whiff from the passing Municipal wagon; stench of the rotten animals welcome you to Manjeri city.

To some it’s the nauseating traditional reek around the Manjeri market behind the old bus-stand.

No sir, it’s the cow-dung you stumble upon while crossing the New Bus stand. Some others said,

the cows and their dump family that patrol the streets on holydays. The legitimate owners of the bus-stands.

They dine at the bus stands in the nights.

The new admits had a variety of detested things in the city; they enumerated:

the villainous and confrontational bus service from Manjeri is legendarily infamous; the ravenous bus crew at both stations; the insatiable business community that dwells behind the streets; nuisance of the avaricious street peddlers and traders grasping on the foot-paths in Pandikkad road; the unruly, boisterous auto-rickshaws, lined up along the sideway from new to old busstand as if the cub-elephants in Trissur Pooram; irritatingly uncontrollable traffic at the central bazaar; footpath blocks intermittently created by wander-thirst NRIs’ house wives, busy employed ladies, beggars and students. As a result, human body collisions are often reported!

This is Pandikad road. Manjeri is brought up and quite alive here.

Street sellers yelled,

“Walli, Pully, Kalli…

Gents under garments and ladies lingerie for sale, sale sale….

Sellers raised them past over the hips and bumpers of passing country house-wives.

“Thaatha, this suit you the most, take one, dead cheap!, stop there or gently pass…

no price for seeing… touch ‘em.. feel the smoothness…. a perfect match for your corporal statistics”,

they explained to those lingered around the displayed lingeries .

The unnoticed foot-wear merchants in the narrow inner shopes have assigned some street urchins

to raise a pair of sandals over the face of every passersby and to cry: ”cheap rate.. cheap…”

Hungry pharmacist voraciously beckoned every pedestrian for a purchase as if selling fish in the Meen Marcket.

The crowded cloth-marts suffocated with elderly women in purdha with their kith and kins and young ladies in skinny transparent attires with their would-bes.

Beggars found prostrate upon the concrete slabs, collecting coins to a towel spread over near the huge electric post, under which a couple of shoe-polishers have engaged in stitching ladies sandals and repairing umbrellas. The aqua fish seller chewed pan before a modulated shout:

“Katla, Vaala, Cheraan, African Muzhi … most suitable for every water resources, tanks, ponds and house wells…

take them together with family…”

On the foot-paths, Samadhani’s cassettes heralded the commencement of another holy month, Ramadhan.

Peddlers appeared with cassettes and cds, knives and utensils; Arabian dates, cashew and dry grapes.

Manjeri started steaming and simmering on Pandikkad roadsides. Manjeri is busy frying and baking

Ramdhan special items: they roasted samosa, cutlet, vadaas, baked porota and variety of appams on the side ways.

Manjeri is scorching and sizzling, sweating and sweltering on and behind the foot paths of Pandikkad Road Street.

The wind kept saying:

“This is Manjeri and Manjeri is sweating and sweltering in the dense pandikkad road”. (end)

Glaring Facts about F-garments

Glaring Facts about

F-garments

While worrying about moral policing, why don’t they consider some glaring facts about feminine dressing. Socially and biologically, women require more safety and security than men.

A feminine body is more vulnerable to violence. It’s more susceptible to danger and harm. It should be carefully protected from sun, dirt, strangers’ stare and glare. But ironically her body is more exposed to those harmful things than that of her opposite sex. More open to evil things. Why? No biological reasons at all. She does it deliberately! Is it because of her convenience and comfort? Not either. Because of simplicity, modesty, humility? Neither of these factors!

Who’s responsible to this contradiction?

Who designed the female dress code and style?

She is, as if ordered (?) to wear light, transparent,

tight wears whereas men can wear stiff, opaque, loose-fitting outfits! Tight-fit, transparent clothes, blouse, pants and other feminine garments definitely enhance sex appeal and to attract the opposite sex.

Isn’t the weaker sex deliberately creating an environment inviting sexual motivation and violence with their provocative appearance?

Who decided that the man should be decently dressed covering almost all the body except the face and the woman should be with some very nice transparent, tight-fit attires?

Feminists, never turn a blind eye on these glaring facts about F-dress.

തസ്നീബാനു സംഭവം: randam khandam

Sub :
