It’s June, 1
It has been drizzling since early morning.
Morning breaks into yet another monsoon in Kerala.
It’s June, 1. Schools are open to torrents of rain.
Children are back to schools after two month-long summer vacation. They are sent to schools in autos and buses.
New books, bags and umbrellas have been bought.
They are promoted to new classes.
New divisions have been allotted.
New class teachers have been appointed.
New lessons are taught.
Texts and note-books are enveloped with glittering Chinese papers.
A new academic year has been commenced today.
And the rain is not going away…
